Summary

aPoet Mary Ellen D'Angelo-Lombari tells the story of transformation from heartbreak to hope and healing during the first year after the death of a family friend, 18, due to a heroin overdose. Additionally, illustrator Anne Marie Farley Zanfagna paints bright, colorful, posterized images of souls who likewise lost their lives. These images adorn the pages between each poem, including her daughter, who lost her life to a heroin overdose at age 25. Short, poignant biographies, written by family members, express how each soul is loved and dearly missed
